Check how it attaches
Headboards may attach to a compatible base, stand from floor level or use a wall fixing. Confirm the specific fitting method and whether your existing bed accepts it.
Measure the fixing positions where relevant. Do not assume that a matching size label guarantees compatible fittings, and ask about any bolts or brackets that need to be supplied separately.
Measure the visible height and total width
- Overall headboard width, including wings or side panels.
- Height above the mattress once fitted.
- Clearance below windows, shelves and sloping ceilings.
- Space beside sockets and bedside tables.
- Access route for a large floor-standing headboard.
Choose the finish for your room
If you sit up to read, compare the shape and upholstery as well as the appearance. Check the care guidance for fabric, wood or other finishes.
Ask whether a sample is available and confirm the finish name when matching a base. Similar colours on different ranges are not necessarily an exact match.
Confirm what the price includes
A headboard listing normally describes the headboard itself; styling photographs may also show a base, mattress and furniture. Check the included-items statement for the selected product.
Confirm the correct size, fitting kit and any installation requirements with the team before ordering.
