1. Measure the finished room
Record the available width, depth and height. Mark the sofa outline on the floor, including the arms and any corner return. Leave usable access to doors, windows, cupboards and sockets.
Check the full operating space for recliners and sofa beds. Allow for a door opening into the room and for furniture you intend to keep. Overall dimensions describe the outside; seat dimensions describe the usable seating area.
2. Follow the delivery route
3. Check the largest delivered section
Ask for the packaged size of the largest section, its weight and whether the product arrives in pieces. Packaging adds to dimensions. Do not assume that an arm, back or leg can be removed unless the maker permits it.
Send the team the product name, measurements and photos of any tight turns. Tell them about stairs, a lift or restricted parking before agreeing delivery. The team can explain what still needs checking.
4. Prepare for arrival
Clear the agreed route and move loose belongings before the delivery team arrives. Keep children and pets away from the handling area. Confirm which delivery service you have chosen and what it includes.
Do not dismantle doors, fittings or the product without an agreed plan. If a measurement is uncertain, ask before ordering rather than relying on a photograph.
