CHOOSING YOUR BED

Ottoman beds: what to check before buying

Lift-up storage can make useful space beneath a bed. Check the opening direction, mattress requirements and room layout first.

Choose where the bed will open

An end-opening bed lifts from the foot; a side-opening design lifts along one side. Confirm the actual model and whether its opening side is fixed or configurable.

Measure the clear space where you will stand to operate it, and check nearby walls, bedside tables, lights and ceiling height. The frame must be able to open fully as intended.

Check the storage itself

  • Usable internal width, length and depth.
  • Whether the compartment has a solid base or another construction.
  • The storage load limit, if specified.
  • Any divisions or supports inside the compartment.
  • How easy it is to reach the things you use regularly.

Match the mattress and mechanism

Use the manufacturer’s mattress size and weight guidance. The complete bed-and-mattress height affects how you get in and out, while the mattress weight affects the lifting system.

Ask whether the mattress is included or sold separately. Compare your exact size, upholstery and storage configuration when checking the price.

Plan assembly and everyday use

Follow all assembly and operation instructions, including any rules about fitting the mattress before operating the lift. Do not improvise or force a mechanism that is not working normally.

Keep children, pets and loose items away from moving parts. Never enter the storage space. Ask UC Beds for the specific instructions and support if any part is unclear.
